I was able to shoot Ally and Jorge for their beautiful sunset engagement session (read more about that here) and was really looking forward to their wedding. The weather was perfect, other than a random brush fire in Temecula that set the schedule back a bit for the day. But Ally, in her absolutely contagious joyful spirit, just rolled with it. The wedding was at Wien’s Family Cellars in Temecula, CA. A smaller, more intimate vineyard in Temecula’s wine country.
The venue has a couple of different spots for events and Ally picked the back patio area. Since most of their family was back east, they were having a smaller wedding and the patio was a perfect spot. Wien’s has two absolutely perfect bridal suites for the bridal parties to get ready. The girls’ was light and full of fun, bright accents and the guys’ side had darker furniture and decor and even a stag horn. Really cool! Snacks were abundant and the spirit was light.
Instead of shooting the bridal party shots out front, we went behind the vineyard and found wide open vines without any weekend wine drinkers in the background. Because of the brush fire, we had to push the ceremony start a bit later than planned and the ceremony was pretty much in the dark. But a full moon and a lot of love lit up the night. Thanks to my incredible videographer friend, Zack, we shot the family portraits in pitch black with full flash. Not my usual style, but you work with what you have. One of the positives of pushing the schedule was that the wedding coordinator let us into the barrel room for bridal portraits. Some of my favorite to date!
One of the incredible highlights of the day came when Ally was giving her parents their wedding gifts. This girl, I swear, I wish she was my best friend. Such a sweetheart! We asked everyone other than her twin sister, mom and step dad to leave the room. I stayed but had no idea what was coming. They opened their first few presents and then her step dad opened an envelope and inside were adoption papers! Ally was asking him to officially adopt her on her wedding day. I was crying so hard for them that I’m surprised I actually got any pictures of it. 🙂
The wedding and reception were sweet and full of family, just like Ally and Jorge. I wish them the absolute best in their future, wherever the Navy takes them. “Semper Fortis” my friends.
Cue the tissues…
The light in the bridal suite was so gorgeous for bridal portraits
We can all thank Zach for lighting these with an LED on a stick!
Super fun party time too!
And a bubble exit!
